Job Opportunities

Event and Space Rental Associate
Department: Operations
Reports to: Rental and Event Manager
Classification: Part-Time Non-Exempt
Position Summary: Supervise the day/night of the event. Follow the event timeline and floorplan; ensure vendors are following all NHM policies and procedures, including set up and clean up; professionally represent NHM.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Assist in logistics of NHM and space rental events including coordination of vendors, caterers etc.
  • Execute walkthroughs
  • Discuss/explain space rental contracts, payment policies, vendor agreements and coordination of event logistics
  • Act as a liaison between client, Museum staff, culinary and equipment vendors as well as party planners in a courteous, professional manner and to provide assistance whenever possible
  • Be the coordinator for the day of the event
  • Must be able to work independently

Essential Job Requirements:  Must be able to communicate effectively orally and in writing.  Must be a creative thinker with the ability to work independently and as part of team.   Must be willing to work nights, weekends and extended hours as necessary.  Must have sales experience.

Education:  Must have a high school diploma or GED.

Experience: 1 to 3 years working in an events planning and sales position.

Required Skills:  Must be computer proficient and possess exceptional writing and proofreading skills.  Must be able to work nights and weekends.

Preferred Skills:  Experience implementing marketing and/or event strategies.  Knowledge of the community

Physical Requirements: Must be able to sit and stand for long periods of time. Must be able to lift and carry at least 25 pounds.
