Kids/School Program Cancellation and Rescheduling Policy

So that we may effectively manage our schedule and offer programs to anyone, we ask that you give at least 2 weeks’ notice before cancelling or rescheduling a program.

To reschedule a program, please contact the Elise Freed-Brown at (312)655-1234 ext. 29 or efreedbrown@hellenicmuseum.org. The Education Department will confirm in writing that your program has been rescheduled.

Schools that reschedule programs within 2 weeks of a scheduled visit will be charged a $25 processing fee. Schools that reschedule within 24 hours of a visit will receive an invoice for the full cost of their program.

Cancellations must be received in writing by fax to (312)655-1221 attn. Elise Freed-Brown or email to efreedbrown@hellenicmuseum.org. The school must include the name of their school, the date of the program, and the title of the program in their cancellation. The Education Department will contact the school to confirm the receipt of their cancellation.

Schools that cancel within 2 weeks of a scheduled program will be charged a $50 processing fee. Schools that cancel within 24 hours of their visit will receive an invoice for the full cost of their program.

If a school group is 30 minutes late for their program, the Education Department will call the contact person for the school to confirm the visit. If the contact person cannot be reached at 30 minutes, the program will be cancelled. If a school is over 60 minutes late or does not show up, the program will be cancelled. In all cases the school will receive an invoice for the total cost of their program.

The museum must be notified of a change in group size in order to schedule the appropriate number of docents. Please give the museum at least 2 weeks’ notice for a change number greater than 10 students. The school will be refunded or charged as appropriate. Schools should bring the number of chaperones appropriate for the group’s size.

Schools that bring fewer students without notice will not receive a refund. Schools that bring more students without notice will be charged the agreed upon rate per student. If the school brings more students than NHM can accommodate for a school program (tour plus activity), they will be charged the agreed upon total cost of their program and provided a self-guided tour.
