Sweet Memories

Thursday, February 23
General Admission – $10
Students – $5

Join us for a gathering with Ann Beck from  Flesor’s Candy Kitchen. Let’s celebrate the sweetest parts of our lives – bring a recipe or family story to share. We will be sampling sweets from local candy makers and bakeries. Museum staff will be on site to record your oral history and to catalogue your artifacts, recipes and memories.

Ann Flesor Beck, Ph.D., is a third-generation Greek confectioner, partnering with her sister, Devon, in their grandfather’s business in Tuscola, Illinois.  After a 30-year hiatus, they reopened the confectionery and soda fountain in 2004, in the original location with a resurrection of the fixtures and equipment utilized by their grandfather and father. Flesor’s Candy Kitchen has been featured on the CBS Evening News and multiple PBS documentaries in Illinois as well as stories in the Chicago Tribune, Los Angeles Times, and the Women’s Wall Street Journal.  They are proud to be carrying on the multi-generational tradition that their grandfather, Gus, began in 1901.
